Membership at Minnetonka Lutheran

Membership at Minnetonka Lutheran is much more than being on the church roster. Gone are the days when you joined a church and stayed there to see your children married. In this transient society full of job change and personal choices, we find membership can last for a generation or as short as a few months. At MLC we believe membership really means a level of accountability. It is saying, “You can count on me to be active in worship and the life of this congregation’s mission and ministry.”

“New Member Classes” as we call it for a lack of a better term, are usually 3 times a year; early fall, the first of the year, and late spring. We gather with folks who think the time is right for them to make the leap into membership, or who just want to hear more about MLC. It is a one-time process, where you'll meet with staff to hear about the ministry of MLC.

Do you have to “join” in order to participate in the life of the congregation? No. We have many folks at MLC who have simply assimilated into the ministry of the church without ever attending the New Member Class or joining “officially.” Everyone likes a different approach, and so we try to take it all in stride and do what works best for all styles of what makes folks feel comfortable.
