SUNDAY SCHOOL: (Sept-May)
Sunday school meets during our education hour, from 9:50-10:50 in the Activity Room (which is underneith the sanctuary). We use a fantastic curriculum called Spark. Spark is a faith formation program that gets children ages 2 through grade 6 excited about God’s Word. Spark lessons bring to life 150 stories from the Old and New Testament through games, art, music, and science, to accommodate all the different ways kids learn.
The students will use their Spark Bibles each Sunday as the focus of their lessons with accompanying study materials to guide them and their teachers in lessons from both the Old and New Testaments.
CHILDREN AND FAMILY MINISTRY TEAM:
We are looking for interested adults to join Pastor Paul in generating ideas to bring God's love to life in the lives of our young people! Please contact Pastor Paul if you are interested in helping with this exciting endevour!
Bible Presentations:
At Baptism, parents and church members promise to help our children grow in faith by placing in their hands the Holy Scriptures and providing them with opportunities to learn and grow from our faith story. So in the fall each year, two sets of students are invited to attend a Bible class and recieve new Bibles during worship.
Pre-schoolers that are new to Sunday school recieve a Spark Story Bible, which brings a wide variety of Bible Stories vividly to life with awesome pictures and fun questions.
3rd graders recieve a Spark NRSV Bible.
SUNDAY SCHOOL INFORMATION:
FAITH STEPPING STONES:
Faith is a life long journey to which there is no end. All of us continue to grow in our understanding of God, whether we are 1 month or 100 years old! There are several special moments in one's faith journey that our Elementary ministry at MLC highlights.
One of the tasks of the Childrena and Family ministry team will be to think about additional Faith Stepping Stones that we can incorporate into the experience of our children and families here at MLC.
First Communion:
Each spring, our fifth grade students and their families are invited to two sessions that help them explore the meaning and significance of Holy Communion as they prepare to join the congregation at the Lord's Table on Maundy Thursday.
Affirmation of Baptism:
Our confirmation program concludes with a special service in May at which students are asked to Affirm their Baptism. This is an opportunity for students to take ownership of the promises that were made on behalf of them at baptism. For more information about our confirmation program for 7th-9th grade students, click HERE.
WORSHIP PARTICIPATION:
Our Sunday school students have several opportunites throughout the year to sing during worship. This is a wonderful way for them to share a gift for God and with the people of MLC.
Students of all ages are always welcome and encouraged to participate in worship!
Students can read, serve as greeters, help parents usher, share a musical offering, and more!
Please talk to Pastor Paul if you are interested in finding ways to plug into the worship life of MLC.
SPECIAL EVENTS/PROGRAMS:
At MLC we strive to offer a variety of ways for children and families to grow in faith together. Several opportunities, such as summer VBS and Bilbe Camp are long established. The Children and Family ministry team will be exploring new ideas to provide more opportunities for children to connect with God, one another and their family.
WORSHIP:
Children of all ages are welcome to worship at MLC.
Children's books and activity bags filled with fun toys and activities are available outside the sanctuary doors.
During worship each week there is a "Children's Portion". This is a time in the service for kids (of any age!) to gather up front for a message related to the theme of the sermon of the day. Parents are welcome to accompany their children to the children's portion.
